AC installation and replacement in Austin, sized to your house
A new system is a 15-year decision. We size it to your actual home, pull the permit, help you claim available rebates, and give you a written quote you can compare.
Signs it's time for a new system
12 to 15 years old
Austin summers are long and hard on equipment. Past 12 years, efficiency drops and major parts start to fail.
Bills keep climbing
An older 10 SEER unit uses far more power than a modern system for the same cooling. In an Austin summer that difference adds up quickly.
Big repair quote
A compressor or coil on an aging system often costs a large share of a new one. That's the moment to compare.
Still on R-22
R-22 refrigerant is no longer made, so a leak on an old system gets expensive to recharge every summer.
From your call to a comfortable house
- Room-by-room load calculation, not rule of thumb
- City permit and inspection handled for you
- Rebate eligibility check for your utility
- Old equipment hauled away and refrigerant recovered
In-home visit
We measure the house, check ducts, insulation and windows, and listen to what bothers you about the current system.

We test airflow and refrigerant charge, register your warranty, and help with any rebate paperwork.
Why sizing matters more than the brand
Bigger is not better
An oversized AC cools the air fast and shuts off before it pulls the moisture out, so the house feels clammy at 74°. In Austin's humidity that's a real comfort problem. A proper Manual J load calculation picks the size your house actually needs.
Ducts are half the system
A great unit on leaky or undersized ductwork still underperforms. Attic ducts in Central Texas sit in air that can pass 130° in summer, so leaks there waste a lot of cooling. We check and seal what matters before quoting new equipment.
Heat pump or AC plus furnace?
With Austin's mild winters, a heat pump handles both cooling and most heating efficiently, and it's often what qualifies for the largest utility rebates. We'll compare both options for your home on the quote.
How long does an AC replacement take?
Most straightforward replacements are done in a single day. Jobs that need duct changes, a new pad or electrical upgrades may take a second day.
Do I need a permit to replace my AC in Austin?
Yes. The City of Austin requires a mechanical permit for HVAC equipment replacement, and surrounding cities have their own rules. We pull the permit and schedule the inspection as part of the job.
Are there rebates for a new AC or heat pump in Austin?
If you're an Austin Energy customer, often yes: Austin Energy offers tiered rebates on qualifying high-efficiency AC and heat pump replacements. Other utilities around Austin vary. Note the federal 25C tax credit ended for systems installed after 2025. See our rebates page for the details.
What size AC do I need?
It depends on the home, not just the square footage. Insulation, windows, sun exposure and ductwork all change the answer, which is why we do a load calculation instead of matching the old unit.
Do you offer financing?
Ask us during your quote. We'll walk you through current options so you can compare monthly cost against the energy savings.
