What Austin homeowners ask about hot water.

Not sure which heater fits? Ask a technician.

Which water heater does Austin Energy pay a rebate on?

A heat pump water heater: ENERGY STAR, 40 gallons or more, replacing an old unit, permitted, and applied for within 90 days. Gas tanks and tankless units aren't part of that rebate.

Can a handyman replace a water heater in Texas?

No. Installing or replacing a water heater in Texas is plumbing work and needs a licensed plumber. An unpermitted swap can also come up when you sell the house.

Is a heat pump water heater a good fit for my house?

Usually, if the home is all-electric. It uses far less power than a standard electric tank. It needs room around it to pull heat from the air, so a garage suits it well.
