Technician replacing a capacitor in an outdoor AC unit

AC repair in Austin, with the price before the wrench

When it's 100° outside, a dead AC isn't an inconvenience. We diagnose the real problem, show you the price, and most repairs are done on the first visit.

Sound familiar?

The calls we get most in an Austin summer

Blowing warm air

Often a failed capacitor or contactor at the outdoor unit. Heat is hard on both, and they're quick fixes when caught early.

Ice on the lines or coil

Usually low airflow (a clogged filter or weak blower) or low refrigerant from a leak. Turn the system off and let it thaw before it does damage.

Water in the ceiling or closet

A clogged condensate drain is the classic Austin humidity problem. Many attic units have a float switch that shuts the AC off to protect your ceiling.

Won't turn on, or keeps tripping

Could be a thermostat, a tripped float switch, a breaker, or a motor drawing too much current. We test, we don't guess.

Runs all day, never catches up

A system that can't hold 75° on a 100° afternoon may be undercharged, dirty, or simply undersized for the house.

Weak airflow or loud noises

Rattling, buzzing or squealing usually points to a fan motor, belt or loose panel. Weak airflow can be ducts, a blower, or a choked filter.

How it works

From your call to a comfortable house

  • Same-day appointments most weekdays
  • Upfront price before any work starts
  • Trucks stocked with common Austin-heat failures: capacitors, contactors, fan motors
  • All brands, attic and closet systems
  1. Call or book online

Tell us what's happening. We'll give you an arrival window, not an all-day wait.

  2. Diagnose

Your tech tests the system end to end and explains what failed and why, in plain English.

  3. Approve the price

You see a flat price for the repair before anything is touched. Say no and you only pay the diagnostic.

  4. Fix and verify

We repair it, then check temperature split, pressures and drainage so you know it's actually working.

Repair or replace?

We'll tell you honestly when a repair isn't worth it

When repair makes sense

Most AC problems are a single failed part on a system with plenty of life left. Capacitors, contactors, drain clogs and thermostat faults are inexpensive, and we fix them on the spot.

When it's time to talk replacement

If your system is 12 to 15 years old, runs on R-22 refrigerant, or needs a compressor or coil, putting money into it rarely pays back. We'll show you the repair price and a replacement option side by side, and let you decide.

  • System is 12+ years old
  • Uses R-22 (Freon), which is no longer produced
  • Needs a compressor, outdoor coil or indoor coil
  • Repair costs are piling up season after season

What you can check before calling

Make sure the thermostat is set to Cool and a few degrees below room temperature, check the breaker, and swap the filter if it's dirty. If the condensate line has a float switch tripped, there's water in the pan and the drain needs clearing.

FAQ

AC Repair: what people ask

Still stuck? Call (512) 555-0142 and a real person picks up.

Do you offer same-day AC repair in Austin?

Yes. On most weekdays we can get to you the same day, especially if you call in the morning. In heat waves we prioritize homes with no cooling at all, elderly residents and infants.

How much does AC repair cost?

It depends on the part. We charge a diagnostic fee to find the problem, then give you a flat price for the repair before starting. If you approve the repair, we tell you upfront whether the diagnostic fee is credited toward it.

Why is my AC running but not cooling?

The most common causes are a failed capacitor or contactor at the outdoor unit, a dirty filter or coil restricting airflow, a frozen evaporator coil, or low refrigerant from a leak. A tech can tell which in one visit.

Should I keep running my AC if it's freezing up?

No. Turn the cooling off and run only the fan to help it thaw, then call. Running a frozen system can damage the compressor, which is the most expensive part to replace.

Do you work on all brands?

Yes. We service Trane, Carrier, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, Ruud, American Standard, Daikin and most other brands of central AC, heat pumps and mini-splits.
